Measuring Guide

When you request a quotation, you’ll need to know the size of the gates you require. Based on your accurate measurements, Gatesland Ltd provide gates and railings for a wide range of clients in Cannock, Staffordshire, and the Midlands. Please use the following measuring guide below to determine sizes.

Measuring an Opening

The opening of your property is the total distance between the inner face of one pillar/post to the inner face of the other pillar/post. Use a steel tape measure to determine the distance between these two points. If you are also buying posts, please remember to allow spaces for these too. Please see the diagram for further guidance.

Measuring gates

Gates are measured from the bottom of the frame to the highest point of the gate. When measuring, please allow for ground clearance. This is typically 50mm (2”) but can be up to 110mm (4”) if required. Please see the diagram for further guidance.
